McKean County Raceway finally got their second event of the year in as mother nature couldn't stop Armed Forces night in honor of USMC Cpl Jason Dunham. Glenn Whritenour of Jasper, NY made the trip worth while as he captured the prestigious event and the $1000 first place prize money in the Yum Yum's Super Stock division. Ashville, NY, Dick Barton also captured a cool grand for his last lap victory in the Maynards Electric FASTRAK Late Model Event and Mt. Jewett's, Ryan Bright captured the Border Skirmish Series event for the John's Collision Emods.

The Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial was the highlight event of the evening for the fallen Scio, NY hero, who lost his life in Iraq. Junior Peters and Whritenour were the front row starters for the prestigious event. Peters would lead the first two laps of the event as Whritenour would move into the top spot on lap three. By lap five Todd Hanson made his presence known as he was now in second from fifth starting spot and sitting third was Scio Speed Connection driver, Mr. Excitement, Jeremy Wonderling. Peters would bring the first yellow of the event out giving Hanson a shot at Whritenour on the restart but the Woodhull Raceway standout would not be denied. Lap seven saw Mr. Excitement sweeping by Hanson and Whritenour to become the third leader of the event. Whritenhour would come back and retake the lead at the halfway mark and defending MCR and BRP CanAm champion, Jeff Chesebro was now making his presence felt as he was sitting third with John Lichy and Hanson rounding out the top five. The yellow would come out on lap thirteen for the second place running Wonderling and Lichy who was in fourth. Whritenour now had to fend the challenges of Chesbro. With five to go, MCR point leader, Steve Dixon joined the fray as he would grab third from Hanson and Cpl Dunham's father, Dan was now in fifth. Whritenour kept his red #15 Grand Prix pointed the right direction in the final laps to claim the $1000 USMC Cpl Jason Dunham Memorial, becoming the third different winner in the three years the event has been ran. Chesebro would come home second ahead of Dixon, Hanson and a fine run for Dan Dunham, who raced in memory of his son.

The NE Micro and Graphics Street Stocks had their twenty lap main event and it was Jeff Hellwig slipping into the lead from his outside pole position as fellow outside row starters Bill McKinney and Adam Sixt quickly followed Hellwig on the outside groove. By lap five it was Hellwig, McKinney, Sixt, defending track champion, Chris Austin and pole sitter, Rich Hemphill rounding out the top five. Austin started to make his move to the front and would find himself in second by lap eight as Sixt was now third, Hemphill was fourth. At the halfway point it was Hellwig, Austin, Sixt, Mike Asel and Hemphill your top five. Austin would make his move to the front on the very next lap as Asel and Hemphill swapped positions. Adam Sixt would dispose of Hellwig on the very next lap as he kept himself close to Austin's #22A Camaro. Sixt hounded Austin lap after lap and with two to go he would make the winning pass and speed to victory at MCR over Austin, Hellwig, Hemphill and Matt Palmer.

The Maynard's Electric FASTRAK Late Models had a special $1000 to win event on the line. Dave Norton Jr and veteran John Haggerty would lead the GM powered late models to the green with Norton leading lap one over Haggerty, but the veteran Haggerty would claim the top spot on lap two as he fended of the quick challenge by Tommy Snyder. As lap three was completed, Snyder got into Haggerty resulting in the leader spinning and bringing out the yellow. Snyder was sent to the pits and Haggerty would rejoin the field at the tail. Norton would be the leader again with hot shoes, Greg Oakes and defending champion, John Lacki on his rear bumper. By lap five, it was Lacki in the lead as Norton was still having a fantastic run in second. As lap seven clicked off the board, moving into second spot was ninth place starting Dick Barton. The former super late model track champion was on the prowl tracking down Lacki. By lap ten, opening night winner, Max Blair would join the hunt and be in third as the trio put on a great display for the fans. Blair would make his move for second on lap thirteen. Another driver on the run was Bump Hedman who was up to sixth from his sixteenth starting spot. He was still coming thru the field as Lacki had his hands full of the youthful Blair and the wiley veteran of Barton. With five to go Blair had a great run off turn two and got into Lacki, resulting Blair to scoot on by and Barton ducking under Lacki and allowing Kyle Drum to close in for the lead chase as well. As Blair exited turn two a lap car pushed up in front of him resulting him to lose the lead back to Lacki as Barton and Drum all rolled on by Blair. Barton would try to get under Lacki and on the white flag lap, Barton would move his familiar black #28B Bolt Place Ford into the lead and nip Lacki at the line in a great battle. Lacki would come home second, Drum was third followed by Blair and Greg Oakes.

Ryan Bright and Craig Bedell were your front row starters for the John's Collision Border Skirmish Series Emod event. Bright would immediately jump into the lead over Bedell and Bob Conner. As lap five rolled around the first yellow came out for Tim Peterson in turn three. Bright was still your leader over Bedell, Connor, eight place starter, Steve Dixon and opening night winner, Randy Hall was in fifth. After the restart the car on the move was defending track champion, Rich Michael Jr. who started fourteenth was now up to sixth and by the halfway point was sitting in fourth and still coming to the front. A lap twelve yellow for Justin Tatlow even the field up again and allow Michael to dispose of Connor for third as Bright still led Bedell. With five to go, Michael moved into second as Bedell was now fending off the challenges of Hall as he would put Bedell back to fourth on lap sixteen. Michael would be chasing down Bright in the closing laps but would have to settle for the bridesmaid position as Bright would capture his first win of the year over Michael, Hall, Bedell and Bob Connor came home a impressive fifth.

The Hallock Enterprises - AMSOIL Mini Stocks came onto the facility with James Galloway and Norm Varner pacing the four cylinders to the green. Galloway would jump into the lead with little Chris Parr in second after lap one. Varner came back to recapture second on lap two as Levi Watson charged into third from his eighth place starting spot. Watson would take second from Varner on lap four as Galloway still was your leader. As halfway approached, Watson was nipping at the back bumper of Galloway and on lap nine would make the winning pass. The battle for third was hotly contested between Parr, Damien Bidwell and Varner as the laps clicked off the board. The trio closed in on Galloway for second as Parr would make the runner up spot pass on the final lap to come home second behind Watson. Galloway was third with Bidwell and Varner rounding out the top five.

Mark Schweikert won the KZ102 Pure Stocks over Brad Curran.

MCR will be back in action next Saturday night as the United Emod Series makes their initial appearance as they will be running for a $750 prize. The NE Micro and Graphics Street Stocks will try again with the Bill Layfield Memorial. This event will be a Border Skirmish Series event.
