Championship Night and Driver Autographs this Friday at NDRL’s McKean County Raceway!

Smethport, PA (August 28, 2013) It is hard to believe that summer is ending and as school is now back in session.  This one thing tells us race fans that our season is coming closer to an end.   This Friday night the NDRL McKean County Raceway will host its championship races for all divisions for its inaugural season.  It will also be autograph night for the kids as all the racers will have their cars on the front stretch between 7 and 7:30pm prior to the nights activities.

There are still point chase battles going on as the Rob Blair of Centerville, PA holds a twenty point lead of Cyclone’s Jason Dupont.   Blair ripped off six wins with majority of them coming in the month of July where he went undefeated at every event he entered in the northeast region.   The “Captain” is still looking for his win and what a way to get his first win of the season by possibly winning the final point race and maybe knocking Blair off the top spot in  points.   These two drivers are competing for the $5000 championship and bragging rights till next spring.  Boom Briggs sits comfortably third in points, Ron Davies is fourth with Dick Barton fifth in points.

Max Blair has the 2013 RUSH Late Model track championship secured, mostly due to his seven wins on the season.   Blair’s championship is worth $2000 and he adds MCR to him already impressive resume of championships including being a 2012 national champion.  The points for second thru fourth are still up for grabs with Adam Sixt leading Ed Carley by eleven points and Chad Ruhlman of Bemis Point sitting just three markers behind Carley.  Zach Carley has fifth all secured in his sophomore season of competing.

Smethport’s, Steve Dixon has one lone win on the season but his consistency has kept him on top of the point chart and he just needs to finish third or better in his heat to secure his MCR Emod championship.  The Emod championship is worth $1500 for the Smethport driver.  Olean’s Vic Vena who won last week sits comfortably in second over injured driver Ron Davies.  Past track champion, Randy Hall sits fourth place in points and can catch Davies for third.  Great Valley NY driver, Kirk Bradley sits in fifth by only two points over Rich Michael Jr and five points ahead of Carl McKinney of Crannberry Twp.  Veteran, Al Brewer, John Woodward Jr and Nathan Hill round out the top ten in points.

Adam Ashcroft of Arcade has the 2013 Close Racing Supply Street Stock championship all wrapped up with a bow.  Ashcroft has nine wins on the season and has been the dominant car with his 604 crate motor.  Brad Ullman of Allegany is currently looking for his first win of the season while sitting in second place in points.  Past champion, Andy Michael has third secured with Joe Chamberlain sitting in fourth and Gary Fisher of North East PA sits fifth.

Joe Boylan has to do the same thing Dixon has to do.  Finish 3rd or better in his heat to secure his first MCR track championship for the Lantz Corners driver.  Mitch Boylan sits second in points a scant five points ahead of Smethport’s, Eric Canfield.  Kurt Babcock sits fourth in points with Larry Mitchell Jr and Denny Babcock are tied for fifth.

The pure stocks were added to the MCR fleet halfway thru the season and they have provided quality fields of cars each week.  Joe Layfield of Bolivar is still looking for his first win but he holds a eleven point lead over Roger Schweikart.  Jim Challingsworth sits three points behind Schweikart.  The point race for fourth is tight between Don Williams, Mark Carlson, Josh Wilcox, Rod Winans and Cliff Easton all still have a shot to be in the top five in points.

Pit Gates open at 430pm with grandstands opening at 5PM.  Autograph session will be from 7pm to 7:30PM on the front stretch, with the green flag dropping approximately 15 minutes later.  Adult admission is $12 and $10 for Sr Citizens and children 12 and under are ALWAYS FREE!   Pit Passes will be $25.  This is the last night of racing until the three day track history making 8th annual MCR FALL CLASSIC that will be held on September 19-21 that will see a  MCR record $118,000 plus in payout.  Race cars from Michigan, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Canada are expected to be on hand for this HISTORICAL event!  The 8th annual MCR FALL CLASSIC, order your tickets online at www.mckeancountyraceway.com
