Autograph and Bicycle Giveaway this Saturday at NDRL’s McKean County Raceway
East Smethport, PA (May 29, 2014) One week after the largest car count and crowd of the year at the NDRL’s McKean County Raceway, the E. Smethport oval will treat kids to driver autographs and bicycle giveaways as well as a regular ‘Super 6’ racing program this Saturday night. Driver Autographs will be held between 6:45pm till approximately 7:20pm with the first race beginning around 7:30pm. This will be about a half hour later than the normal weekly starting time.
The super late models have had four nights of racing with three nights being weekly point nights and the class is still waiting for its first multiple winner. Mike Knight of Ripley currently holds a four point lead over Jamestown’s, Chris Hackett and Garland’s David Scott. Knight and Hackett both have wins so far this season, but Scott has been consistent and is looking for his first win. Saturday could be the night for Slowride!
Chad Ruhlman of Bemis Point has made the 2014 season his little playground so far at MCR. Ruhlman has won three of the four events and last week came from ninth place to win the feature and also raced from eighth in the heat race to win his heat event. The Terry Suppa / Brad Nolte prepared CJ Rayburn chassis is working to perfection for Mr. Ruhlman. Will his streak continue this weekend or will Bobby Rohrer of Waterford find his first checkers of the year. Rohrer sits second in points in a very tight battle between Dave Shagla of Sugar Grove, Knight and Damien Bidwell of Eldred.
Randy Hall of Olean still holds the Close Racing Supply Modified point lead with his two wins but John Woodward Jr of Franklinville picked up his second win of the year and is starting to close the point lead in a little. Vic Vena of Portville, John Boardman of Jamestown and Kirk Bradley of Great Valley round out the top five point cars.
The Highway Auto Stock Cars have seen four different winners so far this year and will week number five make it five different winners? Dennis Asel currently leads the point chase over Kurt Stebbins of Wellsville by two marks. Both drivers have a win also on the young season. Rich Wojowitcz, Ted Mascho and last week’s winner, Gary Fisher of North East, PA round out the top five.
Joe Layfield holds the pure stock point lead due to his two wins over Roger Schweikart’s one lone win. Both drivers are tied with 388 points with Layfield having the tie breaker edge. Cliff Easton sits solidly in third with a tight battle between Donnie Williams and Dennis Cummings of Wellsville for fourth. The Pure stock class has had 3 different winners so far this season.
Mitch Boylan holds a sixteen point lead over Kurt Babcock in part of his three feature wins. Holden Heinemann who has the only other win is two points behind Babcock with Lewis Run’s, Dave Lowe Jr., Hinsdale’s, Mike Eastman and North East, Pennsylvania driver, Thomas Cupp all within four points of each other in the mini stock class.
