GENERAL RACE RULES/REGULATIONS:
The rules and/or
regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct
of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such
events. The rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants agree to comply with these
rules.
NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED
WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE
RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS.
These rules are intended as
a guide for the orderly conduct of the racing events and are in no way a
guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.
The racetrack management shall be empowered to impose any further
restrictions that in his/her opinions do not alter the minimum acceptable
requirements. Any interpretation of these rules is left to the discretion of
the appropriate track officials. THEIR DECISIONS ARE FINAL. If you are going
to invest in purchasing or building a car for competition, make yourself
fully aware of these rules. While all attempts have been made to make these
rules as precise as possible, they are not all encompassing.
Any questionable items
should be pre-approved by track officials. If it is not specifically
allowed, one should assume it is disallowed. The track makes no apologies
for disallowing any items not specifically allowed in these rules or
otherwise pre-approved. Any person or persons entering into competition or
actively participating in competition, including car owners, pit crew
members, vendors, officials, media, or others in the pit area, are covered
under these rules and regulations and are considered MEMBERS under these
rules and regulations.
Each racetrack reserves the
right to refuse or accept the entry of any car or participant without
recourse. Furthermore, the track reserves the right to revoke or cancel the
rights of any entry, or any participant’s claimed right to be on the track
premises, if it is determined that a participant’s presence or conduct is
not in the best interest of the track, the sport of auto racing, other
competitors, spectators, track management or employees.
KNOWLEDGE OF RULES
- Members are responsible to know policies, rules and regulations set forth
herein and those that become effective during the season. A driver assumes
full responsibility for the conduct of their pit crew and their adherence to
the rules and guidelines of the track. The driver is shall be the sole
spokesman for the car and team and shall bear any penalty resulting from his
or her pit crew’s actions.
AMENDMENTS TO RULES
– Each racetrack reserves the right to amend, alter, or remove any rules,
policies, or procedures as published. This may be done if the track deems it
necessary for the betterment of the program, further clarification of
existing rules, or improvements to safety.
TOW HOOKS -
Each car has the responsibility to provide access permitting tow truck
hookup. Pickup hookups are mandatory front and rear and must be easily
visible and accessible by the tow truck personnel without removal of any
body panels or other parts of the car. Hooks should be securely mounted to
sturdy part of the car. Tow truck personnel are not responsible for damage
caused by improperly or poorly installed tow hooks.
DOOR, HOODS, TRUNKS
- Must be bolted, welded, steel riveted or stamped shut with approved metal
fasteners for quick release.
WINDOWS - All
glass must be removed. Approved quick release window nets mandatory on left
side for all divisions. Driver’s window net must be engaged before entry
onto the track and at all times during competition. Driver may be asked to
leave the track if the window net does not remain engaged.
FIREWALLS -
Driver’s compartment is to be completely closed from the engine and gas tank
compartment by firewall made of minimum 20-gauge steel welded or steel
riveted in place.
OIL & TRANSMISSION
COOLERS - No oil or transmission coolers in driver's compartment or
rear window.
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
- All cars must carry an approved and fully charged dry chemical fire
extinguisher with pressure gauge or approved measuring device, mounted below
bottom of window secured to car and accessible to the driver.
SEAT
- Racing
style seat is to be of one-piece bucket-type construction aluminum or
plastic only. The track recommends seat be safely attached to rectangular
tubing, securely attached to frame and roll cage and be completely to the
left of centerline. All seat cushions must be securely fastened. Aluminum
seat is highly recommended. Carbonfiber Seats allowed
SEAT BELT AND
SHOULDER HARNESS - Competition type 5 point 3" belt and shoulder
harness with vertical support belts and crotch strap are compulsory and must
be fastened to the frame and cage in a safe and secure manner. Seat Belts
must be less than 5 years old.
MIRRORS AND RADIOS
- All mirrors and radios are strictly prohibited (except FASTRAK touring
event). Any
other communication devices are also strictly prohibited.
DRIVESHAFT -
All drive shafts must be painted white and drive shaft hoops are required.
Loops must be constructed of at least the equivalent of ¼" by 2 inch steel
and must be mounted in such a manner as to contain the drive shaft in case
of breakage in the front and rear.
WEIGHT -
Added weight must be painted white with the car number clearly marked and
must be securely bolted in place. No loose objects. No weight inside the
driver’s compartment. All weight locations and mounting must be acceptable
to track officials or must be removed. Dislodged weight cannot be returned
to the car for weighing after the race. The minimum weight rules of each
division require a minimum weight with driver at completion of the race.
Nothing can be added after the race to reach the minimum weight including
any part of the car that may have come off during competition. It is your
responsibility to make sure all parts on car are secured; this is
particularly true with added weight. All wheel weights must be securely
glued.
Any ballast used must be attached with at least two bolts of minimum 1/2”
diameter passing through the ballast material & a substantial member of the
car.
Any ballast fastened to the floorboard must have a washer against the
floorboard of at least 1/8” thickness & be a minimum of 2” in diameter.
HELMET -
Racing style helmets are required and must be warn at all times when the car
is on the track and must accompany the vehicle and driver at the time of
inspection. The helmet must have a face shield or eyewear protection, which
must be in place while the car, is on the track. Full-face helmet is
strongly recommended. It is strongly recommended that helmets should be SFI
approved and no more than 3 years old. Motorcycle or four wheeler helmets
are not recommended.
WEARING APPAREL
- All members must wear proper apparel. Fire retardant uniforms, gloves,
goggles and approved helmets are mandatory for drivers. Nomex underwear and
shoes are strongly recommended for use by all drivers. If driving suit is
two pieces, both pieces must be worn at the same time. Proper wearing
apparel is also strong recommended for others in the pits. Driver is
required to wear all safety apparel whenever they are in their car and on
the track including practice laps. It is strongly recommended that all
driving apparel be SFI approved and no more that 3 years old.
APPEARANCE -
Cars and wheels are to be painted and maintained in a light bright color in
a professional manner. Any body damage to a car is expected to be repaired
before the car is returned to the track the following week. Drivers should
remember that they are representing their sponsors at all times and the
appearance of their vehicles is a direct reflection on those sponsors. The
track reserves the right to deny entry to any car that has not had previous
body damage adequately repaired. Drivers should take pride in their
racecars.
NUMBER - Cars
must be numbered 0 - 99. No fractions or letters unless otherwise
pre-approved. Drivers in the same class as the previous season (3 race
minimum) have rights to a number until May 31 of the following year.
Otherwise numbers will be assigned on a first come-first served basis. If a
driver competes at other tracks, he/she will be allowed to use their current
car number but the driver may be required to add a letter to aid scorers and
lineup personnel. Three digit numbers will only allowed for those who can
demonstrate a history of running that number. New drivers are strongly
encouraged to contact the track for available numbers in their division
prior to lettering a car. Duplicate numbers are strongly discouraged. It is
very difficult for the scorers to properly score features where several cars
have the same number (or similar numbers). Remember this when considering a
number for your racecar.
Numbers must be a minimum
18" high located on center of both doors and roof facing to the right. Roof
number should be a minimum of 20". The color of the numbers should contrast
well with the color of the car. The style of the numbers should also be easy
to read. If a driver expects to be scored accurately, the driver should make
sure the car number can be easily seen from the grandstand area. Scorers
maintain the right to request changes to the appearance of the numbers on a
car to aid in scoring. No spray painted numbers. Also, 6" numbers are
required on front and rear of car. For lineup purposes, the number of the
car must be put on drivers’ side of windshield in 4" square.
LETTERING -
All lettering and numbering is to be neatly arranged, and appear to be
professionally painted and printed, with driver’s name on the right side on
roof in 6-inch letters. Driver’s name must be legible. No spray painted
lettering. No rude or profane messages will be permitted. These must be
covered or removed prior to entry onto the track.
